Food Hub Feasibility Assessment

Township of Langley, BC

2015

In collaboration with Greenchain Consulting, Urban Food Strategies engaged stakeholders in a process to determine if a food hub was feasible for the Township of Langley, one of the most agriculturally rich and productive areas in BC. Despite a good level of interest from the community, including producers, the study found there was not enough momentum for a the project to be carried forward without the support of the Township.   It is anticipated that when the farmers markets moves locations in the next few years, the food hub may become more feasible at that time.

The team brought in guest speakers, conducted best practice research, and facilitated networking amongst potential users of the food hub. The final report provided an assessment of the feasibility of the food hub and made recommendations for how to move the project into the next phase.
